10 Feb DARETOGROW / Live Expands Nationally as Leeds Event Inspires Entrepreneurs to Share their Ideas More Fully
The second DARETOGROW / Live event in Leeds was a huge success, bringing together entrepreneurs, business owners, and aspiring founders at The Knowledge Exchange at Leeds Beckett University. As part of a growing national networking community of purpose-driven entrepreneurs, the event provided practical insights into sales and marketing while helping attendees spot and move through personal and professional barriers holding them back from truly growing their businesses.
With a strong emphasis on community, collaboration, and mindset, DARETOGROW / Live is reshaping networking events by combining the latest business growth strategies with deep personal development, ensuring attendees leave not only with actionable tools but also with a renewed sense of confidence and clarity.
The Knowledge Exchange: A Hub for Entrepreneurial Growth
Hosting the event at The Knowledge Exchange was a natural fit. As Leeds Beckett University’s dedicated hub for innovation, business collaboration, and enterprise, the venue fosters real-world learning opportunities by bridging the gap between academia and industry. This aligns perfectly with DARETOGROW / Live’s mission to equip entrepreneurs with both the mindset and the practical strategies they need to thrive.
Four Masters students from the University attended the event, using it as an opportunity to engage with live business challenges and gain firsthand insights from industry professionals.
Sam Tran, a Project Manager, Entrepreneur and MBA student, reflected on the experience:
“It was an incredible experience—both insightful and motivating, providing valuable lessons for my current journey as an MBA student and my long-term goals as an entrepreneur.”
A New Approach to Sales, Marketing, and Business Growth
At the heart of DARETOGROW / Live is a fresh, no-nonsense approach to sales and marketing, rejecting outdated pushy sales tactics in favour of relationship-building, authenticity, and self-expression. The Leeds event focused on:
- The true buyer’s journey—how customers move from finding a new solution provider to trusting them to deliver, and why providing risk-free ways to engage is essential.
- The power of content—how sharing ideas through video, social media, and writing helps build trust before a sales call ever happens.
- Owning unique strengths—why copying someone else’s business model rarely works, and how entrepreneurs can develop a sales and marketing approach that feels authentic to them.
Dr. Kiri-Gabriella Anderson, an attendee at the event, described the impact of the session:
“Since first seeing Lisa speak at an event last year, I knew this was a woman to pay attention to. The way she presents with such grace, humour, and conviction—you can’t help but take note. And she knows her stuff down to a tee. Infectious. Energy. It’s so much more than helping you as an entrepreneur. It’s also building you as a person.”
A Growing National Community of Entrepreneurs
With each event, DARETOGROW / Live is expanding its reach, forming a national network of ambitious, like-minded business owners who are committed to both personal and professional growth.
In Newcastle, demand has led to a venue upgrade to The Catalyst, where the next events will take place on:
Tuesday, 25th February (70% sold out)
Thursday, 27th March
In Leeds, The Knowledge Exchange will once again host the next event on Friday, 28th March (already 35% sold out), and the first Birmingham event is set for Friday, 7th March.
A Day of Connection and Collaboration
Beyond the structured sessions, the event provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to connect, collaborate, and share experiences. Catering was provided by Brod’s Sandwich Bar, with a selection that catered to vegan and gluten-free diets, alongside refreshing fruit platters and highly praised brownies.
A standout moment of the day came when attendees took to The Roof Terrace for a group drone shot, set against the stunning Leeds skyline. The break provided a refreshing moment of connection, with many attendees taking the opportunity to capture photos and reflect on the morning’s discussions.
Dani Smith, who attended for the first time, shared:
“So many new connections made, so much value consumed, and days later I’m still processing, motivated and inspired.”
Meanwhile, Kelly Phillips described the energy in the room:
“The whole day was great from start to finish. The people were so engaging, the networking was fantastic, and I left feeling like I had really learned something. I’ll definitely be attending another event.”
A Special Thank You
A sincere thank you was extended to Richard Whitehead and Nandar Bone Zaw for hosting DARETOGROW / Live at The Knowledge Exchange, ensuring the event ran smoothly and successfully.
Photographer Bill Bean of Bean Photographed was also acknowledged for capturing the day’s moments. Having now attended three out of five DARETOGROW / Live events, his presence is becoming a staple of the experience, earning him a reputation as something of a celebrity in his own right.
