07 Jul Lisa Bean Opens Business Event with Keynote for 150 Entrepreneurs
More than 150 entrepreneurs from across the UK gathered at the Copthorne Hotel in Newcastle on Saturday for an Independence Day-themed business event, with keynote speaker Lisa Bean opening the day by challenging delegates to rethink how they approach growth.
The venue was decorated in both Union Flags and Stars and Stripes to celebrate the shared entrepreneurial spirit of the British and American business owners in attendance, creating an energetic backdrop for a day focused on ambition, leadership and business growth.
Lisa’s keynote explored what she describes as the “Straight Line Through” to achieving ambitious goals, encouraging entrepreneurs to move beyond simply setting targets and instead identify the projects, behaviours and mindset required to reach them.
Throughout the session, delegates were invited to examine the stories they tell themselves about success, confidence and capability, before mapping out the practical projects standing between where they are today and where they want to be.
Combining humour, personal stories and live coaching with members of the audience, the talk focused on topics including overcoming limiting beliefs, building confidence, creating scalable businesses, embracing discomfort and developing the identity needed to sustain long-term success.
Rather than delivering a scripted presentation, Lisa’s conversational style encouraged audience participation throughout, with entrepreneurs openly discussing their business goals, challenges and ambitions from the floor.

Reflecting after the event, Lisa said one of the biggest lessons she continues to learn as a speaker is trusting her own style.
“I’ve realised I’m a very conversational speaker. I go off script, respond to the room, make jokes in the moment and often end up coaching people live from the audience. That’s how I work best, and every event teaches me to trust that process a little more.”
