13 Feb Creative way to use networking to grow your business
If sales are slow, I’d truly consider taking on more of the risk yourself, before asking future clients to take on the risk. By this I mean, stop asking people to buy your services when they come into a webinar cold, or have only have two conversations with you, or from a sales page.
Lay more groundwork up front.
Use content to let your reputation walk in the room before you.
Add value up front without asking for anything in return, and create ways for people to test your offers long before they have to take a risk by investing.
Dramatically extend your reach.
An interesting way to do this is to ‘be the speaker’. Instead of being a participant at a networking event, do the talk. But critically, do not make it a pitch about your business. Make it something really juicy, really valuable, something people talk about and want to come and talk to you about at the end.
In this video, we’re talking about a different approach to networking that transforms the way you connect, create opportunities, and grow your business. Instead of walking into a room asking for business, learn how to position yourself as a valuable, sought-after leader in your niche.

3 Levels of Networking Success:
Level 1: Attend Networking Events – Get in the room, meet people, and start conversations. Showing up is the first step to forming real connections. Where possible, find interesting people and take them for lunch or coffee to really start to build those connections more deeply.
– How do you know if an event is any good? You just go. Go to lots of events that seem relevant and hone in on the best ones for you.
Level 2: Be the Speaker – Instead of asking for leads, talk about a practical and useful presentation you deliver, and ask if anyone is looking for a guest speaker. Most speakers at networking events aren’t paid and lots of networking hosts are looking for original, engaging speakers. It’s a win-win opportunity to showcase your expertise in front of a brand new group of people.
Level 3: Host Your Own Event – What’s to stop you from hosting a coffee morning, inviting people to trial your product, or running an in person networking session? You could even start by getting your existing clients together for an in person day, and preparing a new session, workshop or presentation for them. Film it, photograph the event, and go from there!
